Rock-up to Rockhampton

Well the months have flown and it is almost time for another CMCA Rally. From September 28 to October 4 the region of Rockhampton in Queensland will host our Club's 24th National Rally. Although you must be a CMCA Member in order to attend any National or Anniversary Rally, it's easy to join the Club either by visiting our website (www.cmca.net.au) or contacting National Headquarters for an application. Once you are a Member you may then also complete your Rally registration online, and if you're new to the Club this is the perfect way to meet other Members and have a great time doing it.

Even if you do not yet own a motorhome you can still become a CMCA Member, and may attend one CMCA Rally in a tent or caravan in order to experience the Club atmosphere and gain comprehensive knowledge of the lifestyle direct from Members and trade stalls. Not sure whether you’re ready for a motorhome? Need more information on purchasing an RV? With so many experienced Members all in the one place, Rallies are the perfect place to find the answers to all your questions.

CMCA holds Rallies biannually, and with around 1,500 – 2,200 Members on average attending each event, the week is always packed full of activities for everyone. The Rockhampton Rally will be no exception, with a number of trade displays, craft workshops, seminars and entertainment organised for its duration. Plus the usual Rally Ball will also take place on Saturday night, and this time the theme is The Rocky Horror Picture Show (couldn’t resist that opportunity). A number of tours will also be on offer, including one to the Capricorn Caves, and a trip to Rockhampton’s Heritage Village (for all those interested in history, pioneer buildings and vintage vehicles).

A number of other events will take place in Rockhampton before and after the Rally for those who wish to take more time to visit the area. The Big River Jazz Festival will be happening from 11-13 September, the CQ Garden and Lifestyle Expo from 19- 20 September and the Rocky Barra Bounty from the 29-31 October.

Those attending could be allocated a well-grassed site at the Rockhampton Showgrounds and Victoria Park Precinct- right alongside the majestic Fitzroy River. There are also a number of sporting facilities nearby, including a world class golf course.

It’s not too late to register for the Rockhampton Rally, but you will need to act quickly as sites are filling fast.

The next Rally after Rockhampton will be the Anniversary Rally at Quercus Park in Carrick, Tasmania. For more information on future CMCA Rallies visit www.cmca.net.au/pages/motorhoming_information/rallies/index.php
