Ambulance Cover

While we are galivanting around the country, the last thing on our minds is an accident or a trip to the hospital. When we are away from home, maybe in a very remote location, it is always good to know that if an emergency arises help is on the way - and it won't end up costing an arm and a leg!

It appears Aged Pensioners and Veterans Affairs cardholders would be entitled to free emergency ambulance services in their home States/Territories.

There is considerable confusion however, regarding the reciprocal rights and possible charges for emergency ambulance services whilst visiting other areas. It is strongly recommended that Members check with their local Ambulance Service for further information before they head off on that big trip.

Unfortunately Reciprocal rights between States and Territories are no longer practiced in some areas so it is up to the individual to make personal arrangements prior to embarking on a trip interstate. To ensure peace of mind when away from home, enquire about “Ambulance Only” cover with a Private Health Fund where available.
