The Campervan & Motorhome Book by Collyn Rivers

Tens of thousands of people travel Australia in caravans, campervans and motorhomes. For retirees in particular, such travelling is a regular way of life. Until now, little independent information has been available about buying, building, converting or even using these vehicles. The 'Campervan & Motorhome Book' fills this need. Written by Collyn Rivers, a writer/engineer with forty years experience in designing and using these vehicles, the book is packed with information on what vehicle to buy; advice on building your own; gas, water and electrical systems; solar power; communications, TV reception; travelling and camping safely, legal issues, what it all costs, how to save money, where to go, plus a great deal more. The book is available from CMCA National Headquarters - use the secure On-line Order Form.

Motorhome Electrics by Collyn Rivers

The 102-page (A4) 'Motorhome Electrics - and Caravans Too!' bridges this knowledge gap. It explains how the systems work, identifies what is commonly wrong, and shows how to fix the problems. It explains how to design affordable systems that really work. And how to install them. It warns of unrealistic expectations when away from mains power, and stresses that contrary to all-but universal belief, an '800 watt' microwave oven draws over twice that amount and depletes a battery yet further.

Along the way it introduces and explains electrical bits and pieces such as alternators, regulators, batteries and solar modules. Whilst intended primarily for owners, designers and builders of RVs, it may also serve as a general introduction for auto-electricians seeking to enter this field (and its outstanding business opportunities). The book is available from CMCA National Headquarters - use the secure On-line Order Form.

Solar That Really Works 2nd edition by Collyn Rivers

Running a motorhome's electrics from solar energy is neither difficult nor complicated. Planning is relatively simple, and anyone comfortable with basic tools can do it. To make it work we must know how much solar energy is available where and when. We need to know what can be run from that energy - and what cannot. And what is needed to make this happen. Get this right and it works superbly - get it wrong and it doesn't. This book is a down-to-earth guide to getting it right first time.

Solar Success - Getting It Right Every Time by Collyn Rivers

Essentially this book is about using solar energy to reduce the fossil generated electricity that we use to reduce one's carbon footprint. Throughout, it stresses the need to reduce what one uses unnecessarily before one thinks about generating more.
