Yaapeet is a small town in the Southern Mallee about 30 kilometres west of Hopetoun; a compact and attractive town, nestled amongst well established bush reservations. It is a star gazers paradise and provides access to Lake Albacutya Regional Park.
Yaapeet Beach, which is part of the Lake Albacutya Park, is a popular picnic spot. The normally dry Lake Albacutya comes alive when heavy rains cause water to flood into the extended lake system in the region.
The park adjoins Wyperfeld, Hattah-Kulkyne and Murray Sunset National Parks. Activities include fishing, boating, swimming, camping and walking.
