Minnipa is located on the Eyre Highway on the Eyre Peninsula. It is surrounded by magnificent granite outcrops and is a gateway to the Gawler Ranges. It is also not far from the coastal district of Port Kenny and Venus Bay.
The nearby Gawler Ranges National Park has an extensive range of native flora and fauna, unique geological formations and salt lakes, making it a great destination for a day trip or an extended camping holiday.
The Minnipa Agricultural Centre was established here and has carried out extensive experiments in the growing of wheat and the grazing of sheep on the marginal lands of the Eyre Peninsula. Their research has contributed significantly the production of both wheat and wool in the area.
Barbecues and toilet facilities are provided for visitors at Apex Park, just off the highway and an information bay can be found in Railway Terrace.
