Wanderer Article (November 2009)

Karoonda, 146 km east of Adelaide and 66km from Murray Bridge is in the heart of the Mallee. It is a small, pleasant rural town which is a service centre for the surrounding agricultural area that is noted for its fine sheep, and crops of wheat and barley. There is a showpiece railway museum, pioneer park and well-shaded picnic grounds in the town. A meteorite which fell from the sky in 1930 is on display in the local council office. The Karoonda Farm Fair, held on the last weekend of March or the first weekend in April, attracts around 15 000 people to the town.
