Blackall is a small community located 107km south of Barcaldine. The economy is rural based with a thriving retail sector and a fast growing tourism industry. Blackall is home to Jackie Howe, the legendary shearer who holds the record for the most number of sheep sheared in the fastest time. It is also the home of the Black Stump and many other attractions such as the Blackall Woolscour, the artesian heated spa and the Australian Labour Federation Memorial. With its tree lined streets, old pubs and buildings, this town is just the place for the weary mobile traveller.
