Travelling Nomad

I travel round this country in my thirty two foot bus,
The number plates read just one word, ‘ALOFUS’.
So if you see us coming, driving slowly through your town,
Come and say g’day, it’s nice to see you round.

My bus it does stand out and this I know it’s true,
She’s also got a name, it’s ‘HOME42’.
She’s burgundy and pink it’s been my home for years,
She’ll get me where I’m going, of this there are no fears.

I’ve seen this sunburnt country, her high points and her lows,
I’ve walked along her beaches, wet sand between my toes.
I’ve been to Uluru, climbed to the very top,
For miles and miles I travelled and some things I’ve forgot.

I’ve driven through the floods in almost every state,
In so many different places, I’ve driven through the gate.
Some parks I’ve stayed for months and others just a day,
I’d like to stay for longer, when next I pass your way.

We’ve crossed the sandy red centre, we’ve taken many tours,
East to West, North to South, we’ve been right around the shores.
Australia is our proud land, my passion will not cure,
The hidden mysteries of our land is magical that’s for sure.

So if you see us coming remember what I wrote,
Don’t worry if you can’t, I won’t ask you to quote.
I’ll brew a cup of coffee; we’ll share a yarn or two,
And when I crank her engine I’ll say ooroo to you.
