An Appetite for Life

From Telegraph Point we turned off the main
And drove alongside the Hastings to Rollands Plain

Many campers were already settled around the place
However George and John soon found us a space

This rural area is a peaceful delight
Where disc bowls can be played even at night

Came Saturday evening, and Denise set out the food
Arranged on the big table it looked ever so good
Poultry and cold meats of every kind
Plus the most colourful salads one could find

After grace Keith stacked his plate and ate and ate
Then he was too satiated to stay up late

And Reg went back for a second dessert
Validating the printing on his shirt
Get Stuffed was the logo above Santas empty sack
With sweets of every variety, indeed there was no lack

Kathy Edward entertained with her poems, oh so funny,
More adroit you would not find, for love nor money

Roy entertained us too, singing with his guitar
Ever popular Aussie songs, and others, from afar

Then out of the dark came Santa and Mrs Clause
A continuing line of ladies sat on Santas lap without a pause
While Mrs Clause handed out gifts and kisses
I wonder, did a man or two whisper in her ear their wishes

When Keiths turn came to collect his box
Mrs Clause whisked him away so fast he nearly lost his socks

Laughter and flashing bulbs were everywhere
Called Janet, Gail or Mrs Rambo, Mrs Clause doesnt care

Sunday lunch. All you can eat for a $2 coin Ray announced.
And back to their vans for cutlery and plates every one pounced
Recycled teenagers we try to be, laughing more and living longer
And keeping in touch with friends by the CMCA Wanderer.
