Elaine’s Promise

On the day before you passed away,
We were holding hands and I heard you say,

“I’ll be waiting for you, up there in the sky,”
“Not too soon, I hope” was my pleading reply.

“I want to take you with me, where we have not yet been,
Many places abound, that we have not yet seen.”

Then you smiled again, with so much love in your eye,
“I’ll be waiting for you, so please don’t cry.”
