Read this Help Page before emailing the Webmaster. It covers almost every problem. Then - if all these hints don't help you - email the Webmaster with your Member number, exact details of when & where the problem occurs, if you are using a PC or Mac and what version of which browser. webmaster@cmca.net.au
1. The CMCA Forum
If you're having difficulty with the forum then take the time to read the Forum Instructions
2. Why can't I get into the Member area or Secure site pages?
- You might have your Internet security settings on "High". Reset them to "Medium" in your browser options. In recent versions of Internet Explorer reduce the security settings via Tools \ Internet Options \ Security \ Custom Level
- You might be using a library or Internet Cafe or other public computer which will not permit you to access secure sites (all pages relating to payments are on a secure server).
- If your computer has a firewall, it might be set to exclude access to secure sites. Some networks (on your work computer especially) might exclude access to unknown sites.
- If you get the message "401 unauthorised" (or "404" or other 400s) you might have a Windows Password glitch. Search the Windows directory for *.pwl. Back it up, then delete the file and try entering the CMCA Members area again. (Others have been successful!!)
- You've been using the passwords for months and all of sudden they don't work. When you look carefully, you'll see that the passwords have reverted to prior ones! Here is the fix: (a) carefully click on a Member Page such as Notice Board, (b) then look carefully at the grey box that pops up asking for User & Password, (c) UNCLICK the tick box that says "Save the Password on this computer", (d) re-key (don't cut & paste) in the User Name and Password fields, (e) assuming you do get in - next time you log into the site (make sure you go out and come back), re-tick the Save the Password box. If this doesn't work you may have to use the "delete the password list" trick above or re-load the browser. Some Members are experiencing problems with older Netscape versions and simply upgrading may solve your problem.
- Are you using an old browser version of Mozilla, Netscape or Internet Explorer? Simply buy one of the monthly PC magazines containing a CD and load the latest version of your browser (possibly cheaper/quicker than downloading on the Net). This solves a number of problems immediately. It is 'best practice' to keep you browser software up to date to ensure that you have the best security available to you.
- Your browser might be corrupted, even if it isn't old. Upgrade your browser (or re-load it if already using the latest) and you'll probably find you have no further problem. Many people have emailed about their success after upgrading.
- Another fix that has helped stubborn problems: simply deleting all Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, and History.
- A few Members have needed this fix, but they had a very stubborn log-in problem where the "Enter Password" box kept coming back again and again:
| In Internet Explorer 5 | Under Options, under Security, under Settings, under User Authentication, under Logon, change the setting from "anonymous logon" to "automatic logon only in intranet zone". |
| In Internet Explorer 6 | Under Tools, under Internet Options, select Security Tab, click on Internet symbol, press Custom Level button, at the very bottom of the page under User Authentication, under Logon, change the setting from "anonymous logon" to "automatic logon only in intranet zone". |
3. What are the Member's Area passwords?
Check the Wanderer addressing "flysheet", reverse side, for the current User Name and password.
4. The User Name and Password don't work.
All letters should be in lower case. See items under Question #2 relating to the password files.
5. Adobe Reader keeps wanting to open the Glovebox Fellowship Guide rather than download it to my computer.
Right click on the link to the PDF document and select 'Save Target As..", follow the prompts.
Otherwise, you can change the settings in version 6 of Adobe Reader, go to Edit > Preferences > Internet. Untick the option " Display PDF in browser". In version 5 of Adobe Reader, go to Edit > Preferences > Options. Untick the option " Display PDF in browser".
6. I seem to be looking at old versions of the website pages...how do I make them update?
You are looking at the pages stored in your computer's cache. In Internet Explorerer 6, go to Tools > Internet Options > General Tab > Settings button. Under the heading "Check for newer versions of stored pages"....select Automatically or Every time. For individual pages on a pc try simultaneously pressing [ctrl] + [F5]
