December

During 2011, both at the Village and in the surrounding area, there are an array of events for you to diarise for your travels. To be near to the action, we’re the ideal location, with roomy sites suited to all rig types. In 2011, if you are the organiser of a group booking of more than 20 sites, you will receive your site free of charge and the group will also receive a group discount of 15% (not available with any other discount).

The group will also have free use of the Clubhouse for a meeting (included, subject to bookings) if needed.

Events to plan around for 2011 are on the Village Agenda listed on this page. Look out for the Disc Bowls Festival kicking off on the 16 - 21 May here in the Village, followed by Casino Beef Week and the Sunday Village Market Day. Stay on for the Primex Agricultural Field Days in Casino for a rural look at what’s new and happening. Camp oven cooks get ready! 12 to 14 August is the Bushman’s Heritage Festival, quickly followed by the biennial National Camp Oven Festival from the 19 to 21 August. Book your sites early and be ready so as not to miss your favourite events.

The Village is on display! Great expectations are being realised as we are again the recipient of more awards in 2010. The Northern Star Richmond Valley Business Excellence Awards, held in September, presented us again with the winning award for Tourism Excellence, and this year we also received the Highly Commended Customer Service Excellence Award 2010. The recognition that we’re advancing with strength in the industry is empowering our vision and adding credibility to Australia’s Premier RV Resort.

Ready to accommodate RV travellers from near and far, no matter what rig size, we’re heralding a new dimension of room in the tourism industry. Group bookings are welcome with Chapters and clubs coming to utilise the function facilities and room for creative workshops, seminars, AGM’s, dinners etc. With an array of weekly activities to choose from, we also have a Chip’n’Putt golf course, disc bowls rink and swimming pool so far, as well as a games room including four 8 Ball tables, ping pong, darts and indoor bowls for the active. Tour through one of the new display homes on site to experience the inside view of a manufactured home, and see why many RV travellers are making us their base for travel. Have fun on your morning jog/walk, where you will meet others rising early to enjoy the day. Pick up your daily newspaper for sale at reception as you do the circuit. We are pet friendly so you don’t have to leave your faithful friend alone, you can lead your pet as you enjoy your morning/evening exercise. If you are looking for something more relaxing than Appalachian tap dancing, ‘Take Steps’ and line dancing, then you’re welcome to join in the social cards, crafty travellers, self help art group or patchwork/quilting groups that meet regularly. The next Annual General Meeting for shareholders of RV Parks Australia Limited is set for 9:30am Thursday, 18 November, 2010 at the Casino Village RV Resort ‘Clubhouse’. Information regarding the 2010 AGM can be accessed by using your shareholder login on the home page of the website at www.casinovillage.com.au or by contacting administration at admin@casinovillage.com.au or by phoning 02 6662 8803, Mon - Fri 9am-5pm. Last year’s AGM Dinner was such a success and we look forward to the next one on the evening of 18 November, 2010.

Don’t miss your opportunity to come together and enjoy your night with other shareholders. The AGM Dinner will be held at the Clubhouse commencing at 6:30pm. Tickets are $25 each, including pre-dinner drinks and canapés. Please book by Thursday, 11 November for catering purposes. Be sure to book early to secure your seat. While you are in the Village on AGM day, why not join us for afternoon tea at 3pm at the Clubhouse, followed by the guided Village walk. Further to our announcement last month in regards to being awarded the CCIA Best NSW Residential Park 2010 Award and a Commendation in another category, we also recently achieved the CCIA Bronze Gumnut Award, presented in July 2010. The Award recognises demonstrated commitment to sustainable environmental and socially responsible management. It’s nice to know that we are part of assisting the sustainability of the environment. Thank you to all who have supported us and made this achievement possible.

Spring is in the Village, with new growth evident. It is the season for colourful displays, with bursts of freshness as gardens bloom, and new residents, RV travellers and visitors are given a warm reception. On July 28, Casino Village RV Resort was awarded the Best NSW Residential Park Award for 2010, and received a Commendation in the Tourist Parks section for the Best North Coast Tourist Park between 3½ and 4 stars (with more than 100 sites). Thank you to all who have supported us and made this award possible.

Come and stay awhile at one of our many RV tourist sites, or in an overnight cabin, and see the way we have expanded, grown and developed into the Best NSW Residential Park. During your stay, why not join in with the regular weekly activities like line dancing with the Richmond Valley Stompers, clogging/appalachian tap dancing, take steps, the self-help art group at the art studio, the craft group with crafty travellers, 8 ball, happy golf and social cards...or laze around the pool and chat. Adding to the visual display of spring is the arrival of new display homes, open from 9am – 4pm daily for viewing. Reception has a display home map and the weekly newsletter of activities ready for you. On the inside of the Village is where you get the best view to see how your needs are being met. Come along and take a tour of one of the many facets of Village life. Let’s look at:

Inside the Housing Precinct
You can learn a lot about how a house is put together from being on the inside of it. To help you with your choice, the Village currently has display homes on site open daily for viewing (be quick, before they sell). When you have been ‘on the road’ in a rig for a long time, it’s nice to have some room to stretch. You don’t have to give up your RV lifestyle; we humbly suggest that you can have both. The Village is a great base for your travels. Why not come and have a look?

Display Homes - currently open for viewing between the hours of 9am – 4pm daily, you are able to see, up close and personal, the roominess and the finishing touches on the inside of a manufactured home. Big!

If you are not yet familiar with the internet, contact us with your information details and the flyers will be sent to you for your convenience. Inspections of the homes for sale are by appointment through our Administration Office from 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri.

As with any rig, big or small, or house, short or tall, it’s nice to know that the outside is all aglow, but this is for sure, there’s no other cure...it’s the inside that truly makes a place home!

Bushman’s Heritage & Camp Oven Festival, 13 – 15 August

Next month camping and camp oven cooking come together with the bush poets. While the camp oven cooks, the bush poet entertains.

There will be bush poetry during the Bushman’s Heritage & Camp Oven Festival weekend in the Village, so you may sample a part of the Australian bush culture for yourself. Book ahead for the Saturday night dinner and stay on for the market day on Sunday August 15.

Bush Poets – Free entry to hear experienced and novice bush poets as they compete in their competition categories. There’s room for you. If you would like to join in the fun and friendly competitiveness on the day, see the website www.casinovillage.com.au/events for details of the programme and competition entry requirements as they are released.

Camp Oven – Free entry to watch the cooking demonstrations. Book your seats now to the Saturday night dinner, where you can taste camp oven cooking and enjoy the company of others. See website for more details as they are released.

Markets – Free entry for young and old to peruse the Sunday market stalls. Search among the wares and enjoy stopping for a chat as you view the local craft and produce on display. If you are interested in booking a market stall for these markets or an upcoming market day please phone 02 6662 1069.

Camping – Stay on site and enjoy the atmosphere during the Bushman’s Heritage and Camp Oven Festival weekend. Choose from a variety of ways to be on site and join in the fun.

We offer ensuite sites, powered and unpowered sites to suit all size rigs, as well as overnight ensuite cabins, some with cooking facilities and undercover parking. For those who don’t want to leave, we offer over 50’s manufactured housing specifically designed as a secure base from which you can continue your travels.

Going to the Port Macquarie Rally? Looking for a stopover on the way? Why not call in and see for yourself how the Village is growing? We have beautiful display homes open 9am – 4pm daily, as well as some pre-loved homes for inspection by appointment.

We will have a representative on site at the Rally from Wed 14 to Sat 16 October – so please call by and say hello.

Powered and unpowered sites: All RV’s are welcome. Would you like a powered or unpowered site, drive-through site, back in site, rally-style site or hedged site for your comfort? All within easy walking distance to the amenities blocks.

Ensuite sites: Ready for your convenience and ideal for those that would like to stay a little longer, up to a maximum of 150 days. Enjoy an ensuite, clothes line, grass verge and undercover area with sealed pad alongside your rig.

Overnight cabins: Book early to secure your booking of standard or superior cabins. Standard cabins – with ensuite, tea and coffee making facilities, air conditioning and ceiling fans, (camp kitchen nearby). Superior cabins - with ensuite, cooking facilities, air conditioning, ceiling fans and undercover parking.

Navigate the highways and byways of this nation in style by establishing a base at Casino Village RV Resort. Be amongst like-minded travellers who understand the freedom of being able to go when the ‘itch needs to be scratched’ and return to base conveniently. On your return, drive into the Village, pull into your RV port alongside your manufactured home, open the door, hop out and go inside to rest. It’s as simple as that! How handy it is to plug into the power source in your RV port to recharge your rigs’ batteries if required. If you require a dump point on your return, our dump point is ideally located to empty your rigs’ tanks. If you have met other rig owners that would like to continue travelling with you, we have powered and unpowered sites to suit. You need not say goodbye on the road, they can stay onsite and enjoy the facilities and activities while you refresh, repack and get ready to go again.

RV travellers love to share their experiences, and as we’re specifically designed for RV travellers, you would be with those who understand what it is like when you would like to go into detail over a particularly nice sunset, the latest rig, or a difficult oil leak. You might like to join the ‘Richmond Valley Settlers’, the local Village Chapter, and enjoy their outings. Join the procession with residents and tourist rig owners as they travel to Rallies. Just as your rig is a moveable dwelling, our manufactured housing precinct is made up of manufactured homes built by approved builder’s offsite and trucked in, where they are then secured onsite. There are currently over 100 manufactured homes here. Must be a good idea! Stage 4 housing is currently available, with no shortage of interest from RV travellers.

RV travellers traverse all over the nation. What direction do you take? This August ramble your way to Casino Village RV Resort for the Bushman’s Heritage and Camp Oven Festival weekend. To be held on 13 – 15 August 2010, the weekend includes bush poetry, a camp oven festival (warming up for 2011’s National Camp Oven Festival), and a Village Market day.

Listen, Taste, See, Browse and Buy – a Friday, Saturday and Sunday filled with variety.

Listen – Bush poets both new and old will bring to you, through rhyme and meter, a glimpse of Australia, Australians and the Australian way of life. Australian bush poetry originated as a means of communication about people, places and events of the time. It was also a form of entertainment. As it became more popular, a friendly competitiveness developed amongst the poets as they tried to capture and hold the audience’s attention. Still popular today, the bush poet’s artistry is here again. If you are a budding poet, there’s room for you too. Come along and have fun listening and/or entering into the competition categories, (see website for entry details as they are released).

Taste & See - If you are hungry, you will find a feed as camp ovens are put into action. Camp oven cooks will be stepping up to the challenge of presenting the most succulent table fare to the judges on the day. Learn from those experienced in this cultural art. Enter yourself and enjoy being creative in the purpose built camp oven pit, which onlookers can safely view (see website for entry details as they are released).

Browse & Buy – Wander amongst the stalls and have fun seeking that something special. Markets are so much fun! Come and spend some time browsing and buying at the Village Market Day on Sunday May 30, as part of Beef Week Market and Family Day, and August 15, as part of the Bushman’s Heritage & Camp Oven Festival weekend. There’s nothing quite like us! For a real view of RV based village life, you would do well to visit the Casino Village RV Resort. Recognised as a unique destination, the Village has been built to meet the needs of the RV traveller on the road and is a base for over 50’s RV travel. It is the place for RV travellers who are looking for a spacious site, as we have the room to provide for you. Built in 2003 with a vision in mind, we are currently developing Stage 4 of the manufactured housing precinct by releasing both manufactured home and manufactured cottage sites to eager Village approved builders. The demand for sites remains strong. Newly manufactured homes and cottages are already on sites in Stage 4, with more on the way. Beautiful existing homes for sale are an ideal alternative for those that choose not to build. It’s not too late for you to enquire about basing your future in an RV travel friendly environment where you can ‘be at home’ or ‘on the road’. The roomy sites in the manufactured home precinct enable you to park your RV and car alongside your manufactured home. When planning your journey to CMCA’s 25th National Rally at Port Macquarie, NSW in October 2010, remember to include some allotted time at Casino Village RV Resort. Within easy reach of Port Macquarie (342kms, or approximately a five hour drive); it makes a great next destination. Whether you are on your way to or returning from the Rally, you will find the Village is an ideal place to join up with friends, relax and prepare for what is ahead.

“No, not a rupture in the back, these discs travel as six packs, two in all with kitty and ropes in tow. Nine metres by three...yes even under a tree, just level so it rolls when you throw. Secure all the ropes and talk to the new folks that come out to watch the display. 4.5m is halfway, over which it must stray to be in, or the other can play. The marker sends the coin up with a flip, in front of the two skips...who will send the kitty to lay? Once it is decided, the lead sends it rolling, and yes...we’re ready to play. With three discs in hand, the lead has a plan as the kitty now centred, to stay. Toe to line here we go, no, it’s not all for show...just to kiss the kitty to stay. Two leads and two skips will each make the trip to the line to each have their way, with the disc that’s so neat, but looks like a seat, yet it rolls when it’s angled the right way. Now the twelve discs are through, the marker pushes through, “Stand aside, for the measurements to be made.” He calls to the scorer and reports what’s been sorted, for you know the decision’s been made. Now that end’s complete, at the other we’ll meet, and again we’ll step up to the line. Don’t get out of turn, or you will soon learn, that you’re minus one disc, oops, not planned! To keep it all neat, best use a score sheet, best of five ends will tally to see, which team of the two has made their way through to success, and ten ends for the disc bowls trophy.”

Get ready! The 2010 National Disc Bowls Festival is set for 17 – 22 May, 2010 at the Casino Village RV Resort. This is a recognised opportunity for experienced and novice disc bowlers to come together and have fun fun fun! Friendly competitors join the week of games, vying to have their names inscribed on the ‘Jacana’ perpetual trophy. This year’s categories are ‘Men’s Triples’; ‘Ladies Triples’; ‘Mixed Pairs’ and ‘Best Cheer Squad’. Be prepared as there are only three months to go. As with any game of disc bowls, skill is not necessarily the most important factor, so don't be put off if you have never played before... give it a go! Now is the time to get those disc bowls kits out and have fun practising with your friends and family. Draws will take place for those who may not have a predetermined team, ensuring everyone has a fantastic time! Registration is in person between 8am-11am on Monday 17 May, 2010 at Casino Village RV Resort (no advance registrations will be taken). Welcome to 2010! What a breath of fresh air a new year is. There is anticipation of fresh beginnings. One of the first big changes in the Village this year is the arrival of new home owners as part of the Stage 4 housing expansion. We are seeing people connect and interact as each one begins their new start with Casino Village RV Resort as their chosen home base for travel. The Village specifically caters for the lovingly called ‘Grey Nomads’ and sets a high standard above other villages, with the luxury of very generously sized housing blocks. It is so easy to be ready for your next ‘on the road’ adventure when your rig (RV) and car are parked alongside your new manufactured home here in the Village. It’s paid!

The Village is pleased to announce that in November 2009, the final payment cheque was presented by Directors of the Board of RV Parks Australia Limited to Richmond Valley Council for the full payment of the purchase price of the airport site and water and sewerage equivalent entitlements on which Casino Village RV Resort resides.
