A spring in one’s step is what you will find when you attend the ‘Clogging’ (AKA: Appalachian Mountains Tap Dancing/Flatfooting) held at the Clubhouse. Resident Ray Moss has brought this weekly activity together as he instructs dancers from the novice to more experienced groups through the tap steps. The steps are a fun, visible and auditory expression of the music being played and all are welcome to join in.
Gaining popularity in the Village is carpet bowls with Ron Black and Alan Cropper. The bowlers gather at the Clubhouse to enjoy the challenge of bringing their bowl closest to the jack to win. It is a game of precision rather than speed that makes room for all. There is a growing attendance of newcomers to the sport with two bowling mats in operation and a recent change of venue required to allow the group more space.
Right on cue, the 8-Ball enthusiasts are ready for their casual games on the four tables in the Green Hangar. Roger Harrison has united the players to meet together several times a week with friendly competitiveness as they hone their skills to pocket the 8-Ball and win. All levels of players are welcome with an annual ‘serious’ competition added.
As well as Clogging, carpet bowls and 8-Ball, there are a variety of other weekly activities for you to try. You’ll find them freshly listed each day on the board outside the reception office, or ask our staff for your copy of the current weekly newsletter to be able to plan ahead. Be sure to allow time for a chat as you meet and mix with the locals and other RV travellers. Swap tips, enjoy the relaxation and use of the facilities as you breathe in the freshness of spring in the Village.

The 2011 National Camp Oven Festival (19 to 21 Aug 2011) is about to begin. Three days of camp oven cooking competitions and demonstrations including learning the basics, (perfect for those just starting out with a camp oven). All are welcome to enter their cooking talents in the competition categories, where just the right amount of heat beads applied at the right time can make the difference to a winning dish. Taste the flavour difference a genuine camp oven cook can make to an assortment of meat and vegies, while maintaining the delicateness of cakes and desserts. Be the quickest to boil a billy, throw a scone farther than the others and join in the disc bowls events, just for fun. Find time to tour the Village and view the display homes to see how we have grown. Listen to a seminar. Have you tried Wii games? Rise to attend the bush poets and yarn spinners breakfast and refuel as they tell their tale. Bush dance with the Big River Bush Band and book for the camp oven dinner at the clubhouse. Whew! Are you ready?

Bush poets and camp oven cooks will gather together here in August 2011 for the Bushman’s Heritage Festival (12-14 Aug 2011) and the 2011 National Camp Oven Festival (19-21 Aug 2011). Would you like to learn the basics of camp oven cooking and taste a camp oven dinner?
Our purpose-built camp oven pit is designed to allow spectators the best and safest view of the cooking whilst allowing the camp oven cook a safe workplace with the room to attend to details. There are demonstrations, competitions, breakfasts, dinners, bush dancing, professional and amateur bush poets and yarn spinners and prize money to be won. Have we seen your camp oven cooking in action or heard your latest yarn? Pictured are four bush poetry winners from the 2010 Bushman’s Heritage Festival. This year’s trophy could be yours! March
Three of the Village activities available for everyone to join in and express their individuality are art, golf and craft. Join us this month as we view the passion of some of the Village ladies.
Pauline, a keen artist, started the Village Self Help Art Group held at the Art Studio. Her attention to detail is evident in her art work and she is always at the ready to share her knowledge with those pursuing their new interest.
Cindy has plenty of room for her golfing hobby at the Village Golf Course. Part of the friendly set of Happy Golfers, she is often joined in her enthusiasm for a round.
Val and the ladies from the Crafty Travellers meet regularly at the Craft Room and enjoy fun and chatter as they bring forth their creations.
If you are serious about art, golf or craft, and love to have a laugh, Casino Village is where you’ll find these industrious ladies.

January
Recently a professional photographer captured a fresh glimpse of the Village through his lens and we thought we would share some of the photos with you this month.
Enabled by a camera pole mounted to
his vehicle, he obtained photos from a
height and angle that give a sweeping
view. The top photo is of the entrance
way leading up to the gates from Light
Street with Reception and the Magnolia
site area on the right. The Clubhouse and
Dam area are on the left.
The second photo shows a nice place to
have a cuppa at the picnic table that
overlooks the Dam directly to the left of
the entrance way. A great spot to see
the ducks! The next three clicks of the
lens are a look (in order), at a street in
each Stage 4, Stage 1 & Stage 3 of the
Manufactured Housing Precinct.
Its filling up fast. The best way to
capture a look of all there is to see is to
come and stay awhile. Book your sites
early and be ready so as not to miss your
favourite events.
Join in on a Valentines Day BYO lunch on
Monday February 14, 2011. Pack some
fun in your lunch and let your loved one
know you care. All are welcome. See the
Village Agenda for dates and the website
